Protect Your Wood From Water Damage

There are many types of trees in our world. Each type of wood has its own special qualities and color, making them all a beautiful choice for furniture or flooring. Some of the types of wood are a better quality than others, but there’s no mistaking that they’re all fine choices.

Of course, you have to be aware that some furniture is made out of particle board, which is one of the lowest qualities of wood you can get. Particle board is that flimsy stuff that is pressurized chips and shavings of other wood, compressed into its own boards. You don’t want to waste your money on these, especially when it comes to water damage.

Particle board can practically melt when it comes into contact with water. It’s almost sand-like how it falters. It won’t last long and Damage Control 911 gives us a lot of information on why. Solid wood and manufactured wood is the way to go.

Of course, in order to protect this wood, you have to apply some sort of waterproof seal on it with its finish. The sealant will keep the water out of the porous body of the wood, making it less likely to absorb it and house mold or other dangerous microbes.
